Not to be biased, but I think this is a really exciting and unique opportunity with lots of growth potential for an organized and innovative farmer/manager.

Job Description: The mission of the agricultural manager is to ensure consistent, high quality plant biomass production from the company’s indigo research farm and with our partner contract farmers in Northern Middle Tennessee. The company has a successful history producing natural indigo crop across Tennessee and now is seeking an experienced agriculture manager to expand row crop production to over 1000 acres for the company’s new biomass processing facility. The ag manager position is hands-on in crop production, performing and supervising daily operations of the indigo crop production. He/she is responsible for managing farm operations, regular record keeping and crop scouting, scheduling and coordinating production and harvesting with processing plant manager, providing input on operational and capital budgets. Ag manager must be able to consistently collect and report data from field scouts and harvests.

Prefer 3+ years of farm management experience in mid-scale farm production using progressive row crop farming techniques and at least 5 years farm experience running and transporting a variety of agricultural equipment. Manager will be responsible for implementing safety policies and practices according to company standards. Must be personable and organized, with occasional need to lead a farm crew, as well as communicating crop projections and coordinating with other employees. This is an excellent opportunity for a long-term position with growth potential, or for an individual ultimately seeking to manage their own farm but requiring more resources or experience producing a niche specialty crop in a growing market. During the off-season, manager will assist in other areas of the facility setting up equipment, assist in biomass handling for other crops and other duties around the farm. Other off season responsibilities include financial, production, and growth planning, as well as coordinated supply-chain planning with processing plant manager.
