HIRING: Seasonal Labor at Green Door Gourmet

Green Door Gourmet is looking to fill several seasonal part-time contract labor positions focused around our pick-your-own strawberry patch. Positions are expected to begin in April and end in mid June. Our strawberry field will be open to the public Tuesdays – Sundays from 9am-2pm. All positions must be willing to work scheduled hours during those days (8am-3pm), with the opportunity to extend days harvesting strawberries and doing other manual labor farm tasks. Pay is $10/hour. Candidates must have a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, enjoy working outdoors and working with the public. All candidates are subject to a background check.

Responsibilities include welcoming guests to the farm, answering basic logistical questions, leading walking tours from our on-farm market to our strawberry patch (1 mile round trip walk on gravel roads and through fields), leading hayride tours, teaching customers about our farm and strawberry harvest, demonstrating correct harvest techniques, monitoring fields and walking tour routes, monitoring kids’ activities and selling merchandise to pick-your-own customers. Candidates must be able to walk, talk, and stand for hours at a time in hot or cold weather, have excellent rapport with customers, speak loudly, have public speaking/entertainment capabilities (very important), be aware of safety concerns, be proficient in math, able to manage a register and provide excellent customer service. Musicians are preferred to lead hayride tours and will be asked to entertain groups with musical abilities.
