Caney Fork Farms is a regenerative farm located in Carthage, TN (an hour east of Nashville). The farm raises vegetables and flowers in a third of an acre market garden and 3 acres of tractor based fields; grazes cows, pigs, and sheep on 350 acres of pasture; is beginning to produce chestnuts on nearly 50 acres of orchards; and maintains extensive herb gardens, raspberries, elderberries, and other fruit plantings.
Products are sold primarily through Nashville restaurants and CSAs. The farm is also collaborating with a number of researchers to track the ecological effects of our farming practices, with a large focus on carbon sequestration. See the farm’s website for more details: caneyforkfarms.com
Caney Fork Farms is seeking a full-time vegetable team member to help raise a diverse mix of vegetables and flowers. Crew members will report to the Vegetable Manager and assist in all aspects of production: seeding, transplanting, weeding, pest management, harvest and post-harvest, equipment use and maintenance, etc. This job description is flexible and will be adjusted to best maximize employees’ skills. Team members will be trained in bio-intensive growing techniques and tools, including: BCS with multiple implements, the paper pot system, various hand-tools, and more.
Skills and responsibilities include:
● Keen observation, care, and concern for plants and animals
● Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
● Ability to work full days in all weather conditions and lift 50lbs
● Periodic assistance with other aspects of the farm (livestock, compost, fruit and nut trees, farm
● Minimum one year of previous experience in farming required
● Ideal candidate would be skilled in high tunnel production, propagation and irrigation
● Organizational/computer skills a plus
● Tractor and other mechanical skills a plus

Minimum $12/hr plus housing and benefits, more DOE.
Employee housing is in a fully furnished house within a 10-minute drive of the farm. The property houses the majority of the farm crew so social fit is important. We respect each other’s privacy but also eat, have bonfires, and overall spend a lot of time together. The property has river access for swimming and kayaking!
