JOB: Farm Hand/ Livestock Care (Posted July 16, 2014)

20-40 hrs per week includes mornings and afternoons during the week and on weekends. Pay increase after trained. Job Responsibilities: Animal care, feeding and watering, move pasture structures, observe livestock for good health, egg pick-up, general farm work, load poultry for processing, some work with frozen inventory and gathering orders for delivery.

Farm Description- We are a small family farm raising livestock for meat. We sell our USDA inspected products to restaurants and at farmers markets in the Nashville area. We utilize gentle and humane animal handling practices. We raise our livestock on pasture.  We start chicks, ducklings, guinea and turkey poults in the brooder in a barn and then move to pasture. Hogs are raised on pasture with huts and deep hay bedding. We raise a few cattle annually.

Must Have: 2 work related references, 1 personal reference, animal care experience, pay attention to detail, good attitude required, must be able to work alone and with others, must be able to complete tasks/ jobs as assigned, lift 50 lbs repeatedly, able to work outside, keep clean work area, reliable transportation. For more information and details on how to apply, please email: wedgeoak@gmail.com.
