MEETING: Nashville Leadership Council – Sept 23rd

greendoorHello all,
This is short notice, but we have an opportunity to provide input concerning quality of life strategies the Nashville city government is developing.  The Healthy Nashville Leadership Council and its sub-committees are meeting to prioritize public health issues and identify resources for addressing them. To voice our opinions of sustainable farming’s numerous beneficial roles in future local policy initiatives is an opportunity we should not miss.

As such, we will meet at the Green Door Gourmet Farm, Monday, September 23, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., 7011 River Road Pike, Nashville, TN 37209 (one mile off Charlotte Pike), Phone: (615) 942-8079, Sylvia Ganier has again graciously offered her facilities for us to gather.

The tentative agenda is:

  • 1:00 Greetings
  • 1:10 Explain Nashville’s strategic planning process (and other initiatives like Nashvitality, NashvilleNext, Food Policy Council’s survey)
  • 1:30 Identify our benefits and issues that interest the community, our perceptions about quality of life, and our list of community assets
  • 2:15 Break with refreshments (some will be provided, but if you have some delicious local offerings you’d like to share…)
  • 2:30 If there are other topics you would like to discuss, please inform me.  The agenda will be participant-driven for those topics that could most benefit you (crop-specific breakouts, plenary sessions, other…).  The final agenda will be sent approximately one week before the gathering.
  • 4:00 End
  • Again, those who think that local, sustainable farming is integral to a healthy, more resilient Nashville, should attend.  Numbers count here: we need to report good representation to become more of leadership organization in this area.
Look forward to hearing from, and seeing, you there!

    John Patrick
